Whitley Bay Story
Our story
The Whitley Bay Condominiums, located at 1187 E. 3rd St. in Long Beach, California, is a three-story residential building in the Alamitos Beach neighborhood. Constructed in 1969, the building comprises 46 units, including one and two-bedroom condominiums, with sizes ranging from approximately 631 to 1,124 square feet. Amenities for residents include assigned parking, common storage, an elevator, guest parking, on-site laundry facilities, and a picnic area. The building's location offers convenient access to the beach and nearby parks.
The surrounding neighborhood, Alamitos Beach, has a rich history. Originally planned as its own community with a townsite, Alamitos Beach was annexed by the City of Long Beach while still part of unincorporated Los Angeles County. In the early 1900s, the area saw development with structures like the Alamitos Bay Pavilion, erected in 1903 by the Alamitos Bay Land Company, coinciding with the emergence of the first houses in the waterfront area. The discovery of oil in the 1920s further spurred growth, transforming Long Beach into a boomtown.
Today, Alamitos Beach is known for its expansive shoreline, offering residents and visitors ample space for recreation, including volleyball courts and beach rentals. The neighborhood's proximity to the beach and its historical significance contribute to its appeal as a residential area.
